A couple things I learned in primary.....

Since January I have been traveling to ward conferences(9 down 2 to go)

Last week I was doing sharing time in Franklin. We were talking about Charity and I told

the kids that I was in my teens before I admitted I didn't understand exactly what Charity meant. I asked the kids if any of them knew what it was. A six year old little boy raised his hand and I called on him to answer. He explained "Charity is when you do that one thing that you shouldn't do with some one else before you are married."

With my face bright red and biting my tongue to keep from laughing I tried to explain I thought he meant Chastity and that was a whole other lesson!!!!

Then on to Whitney Ward where I asked the kids where we can find the words that the prophet speaks to us today. I called on a little girl and she exclaimed "You can find them on Netflix!!! Everything is on Netflix!"

Maybe she knows something I don't........

Flip ~ Flops & Mud

A few nights ago Rob and I were next door visiting Dick. I had run home to get something and was on my way back. It had started snowing and I had on my flip-flops(not the smartest choice, I know). Usually I just run across the lawn and sneak through a space in the fence. When I got to the edge of the lawn I realized it was really muddy. I stood there for a moment trying to decide what to do. I could probably just make three big jumps and maybe only get the tip toes of my flip-flops dirty, or I could just go the long way around the fence and out on the road. I weighed my decisions. I had barely cut the tags off my new cute pink Flip-flops, and sure I could wash the mud off, but chances are they still wouldn’t be quite as pretty….or I could just get to walking and go the way I knew I should.

I also thought about how no one was looking to judge me for jumping through the mud, no one would ever know. Then I realized even though they didn’t see me in the act, my footprints would be left there. What if the twins saw my tracks and decided to follow in my footprints? I didn’t want to have to clean the mud off their shoes too….

I couldn’t help but think about how this related to decisions in my life. So many times it is tempting to just sneak through the mud(make a bad choice) instead of taking the right path. And sure, we can always repent(wash the mud off). But in the end what are we left with? A pair of dirty flip-flops that it probably took longer to clean up than it would have to go around the fence.

I decided I had better set a good example and go around. Even though my toes were freezing I knew I had made the right decision, and that made me happy. It also inspired me to try and do a little better as a parent, primary leader, wife, and friend. I am going to try and spend less time cleaning up mud and more time getting my toes a little cold because I am staying on the right path.

We received the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. with the National Milk Producers Federation. We met with our Legislators and shared our views on the importance of Dairy.

We visited as many of the memorials as we could fit in. The Roosevelt was our favorite.

The spirit of Reverence at all the memorials was so overwhelming for me.

I have so much gratitude to all those who have serve our country and sacrifice so much.

I don't think I can explain our emotion at Arlington, I won't even try. I am fighting back tears

as I am typing this 4 months later. Just filled with gratitude....

Everything cost a million dollars in DC, so we were ecstatic when we found a

5 guys burgers! Even better, they were serving potatoes from

Idaho!!! We are with our friends(Matt & Kristie Dorsey) we met on this trip. Fellow Idaho

dairy producers and parents of 8 year old twins. Needless to say we have a lot in common.

(And in case you wondered, yes, we are soaking wet in these pictures!!!)

We stayed in Alexandria which is one of the oldest towns in our nation.

It is AWESOME! I love all the old houses and pavers...

Lastly as we were in the airport waiting to fly home, Rob came back and told me to guess

who he shook hands with...none other than Larry Craig. Wow, it completed our trip.

What a trip! We hope to go back someday, we spent a week and couldn't

even being to see all we wanted to. Next time we hope we can take the girls!

T Cross

Thanks to Kel we had the opportunity for the vacation of a lifetime.(We didn't know that at the time)

We spent a few days in Dubois Wyoming at the T Cross dude ranch.

So beautiful, so relaxing, best food ever, best family time.....can't wait to go back.

There was one little incident....but at least I didn't spill anything!!!!!

Rob's memories of Grandma: He posted these on facebook the day before she died. Kinda crazy like maybe he knew it was coming. Thought I would share his memories along with his cousins responses. She was a great lady. =)

Rob Hull Nearly burnt toast and jam with cheerios for breakfast. Lots of Oreo cookies and ding dongs almost always available. A couple things I remember from grandmas. Had a blast from the past (doesn't happen to often) just thought I would share.

Tang....Diet Pepsi....Hawaiian Punch....Grandma runnin around trying to feed everyone and take care of grandpa....brownies with walnuts with the pan sprayed with about 2 inches of Pam....BBQ with radio active pickles....chili sauce for the roast and green jello with cottage cheese and marshmellows which was my faviorite...Grandma my heart hurts....I love you. :)

~ My favorite things about Grandma was that she always insisted I had a fresh jar of roses, as well as one for each of the twins. She would even snip off her only Princess Di(her favorite pink rose) just to share. The way that Easter Lillies made her sneeze. Her baskets of gourds. The sweet voice she talked to my girls with. She always wanted to know the status of the hay and how much longer until we got it all hauled in. I loved the steak dinners on the back porch in the summer after a long day of work, and loved that on the nights I couldn't sleep or that I was up with my babies, she was up too smiling and waving at me out the window. I loved watching her climb up on top of the counter tops to clean when she thought no one was looking or when she called me because she had managed to take down all the drapes and clean them with her arm dislocated and needed a little help getting the last few hooks in to hang them up. I loved her Christmas tree and her bluebirds with the tags from "the farm". I loved sitting in the lawn chairs and looking at the yard at dusk, and going for walks around the yard and around the church while the girls rode their bikes with training wheels. I loved that I always got a chocolate from the drawer when she didn't offer any to Rob. I loved holding holding her tiny hand and I will forever miss kissing her soft cheek. She made me feel like she loved me like I was her own grand-daughter, I loved her like she was my own grandma. ~hollyjo

I had the opportunity to speak with the High Council, apparently according to the Stake Pres. I will have many more. (those of you who know why I think that is....quit laughing!) It wasn't as bad as I thought. And in the end, I am pretty sure the talk that I wrote was full of advice for myself. Always room for improvement right? I thought I would share two of the thoughts from my talk.

I love both of them!!!

It has wisely been suggested that before we point out someone else’s faults, we should take time to count ten—ten of our own faults.

“If we will always look for the best in others, in our friends, in our neighbors, in our wife, in our husband, in our children, they will turn out to be the most wonderful people in the world. On the other hand, if we are looking for their weaknesses and faults and enlarge upon them, these same people may become even despicable.”

Olympic Gold

Sydney's class has been having their own Olympics. She cleaned house taking Silver in most all of the events!

She came home with one Gold and one Bronze as well. We were the most proud of her for getting a silver in the art event as well as in the spelling bee!! Her favorite event however was a team event (the bobsled),

where they pulled each other on rugs across the gym floor.

Way to go Sydder!! You earned it, you worked hard!! We are so proud of you!!!

ON MY SOAPBOX

I spent Saturday morning at Stake baptisms, as usual. Everything was going like it always does, then Shayla walked through the door. Most kids walk in excited, but nervous. Shayla was frowning and not the least bit happy to be there. I greeted her and her family like I do all the kids. I knelt dowm by her and held her hand and told her how excited I was for her that she had made such an important decision to join the church. Her poor little hand was shaking!!!

We ran through the program and unfortunately Shayla was last to be baptized. By the time it was her turn she was in tears and had a “tummy ache”. He parents pleaded with her for a few minutes and finally dismissed from the font out into the hall. I watched out in the hall for a while and finally I felt prompted to go and speak with her. By this point her parents were embarrassed and upset that their family and friends had been waiting for forty minutes!!!

I asked her what was wrong. She told me she just couldn’t do it. I told her about how my twins were scared to death because they didn’t want to get water in their ears. (For those of you that don’t know my twins only have a 1/3 and a ½ of an eardrum, thanks to 2 sets of tubes and repeated ear infections). I went and got Syd and Shelb and had them tell her how even though they didn’t want to get baptized they did, and they loved it. She calmed down a little. When the girls left she started crying again!

Finally I told her quite bluntly “Shayla you just have to have faith!!! Heavenly Father isn’t going to let anything bad happen!!! Have faith that Heavenly Father will take care of you!!!!”

She got mad at me and said “I do have faith! I am just too scared!!!” We said a little prayer together and her dad picked her up and took her into the font where she cried all through the baptism. She made it though. Everyone was crying when her dad picked her up and carried her out of the font. It was such a tender moment.

It made me think. I have faith. I know that when I do the things Heavenly Father asks me to do I will be blessed. But sometimes I am scared too. Making the obvious right choice isn’t always the easy thing to do. I thought of Alma 22. One of my favorite sections of scripture. Aaron is teaching Lamoni's father, the King about God and repentance. He cries to the Lord “I will give away all my sins to know thee.” Like Shayla I have faith, but just as she didn’t want to jump in over her head in the water, I have a hard time giving up all my sins! It shouldn’t be hard, but it is. It is just hard to go all the way under the "water".... I struggle with making time to study my scriptures, not swearing, judging others, ect…. I understood how Shayla felt. But she has inspired me, at least for this week, to try and do a better job of having faith, to just jump in, and knowing that the choices I make, if they are good ones, will bring me closer to my Heavenly Father, and closer to truly knowing him.

~ Spending some time with a good friend laughing,

and talking can make your week AWESEOME! (thanks Lena)

~ Using a steel edged snow shovel to clean off the

canvas gazebo is NOT a good idea!

~ Working on taxes is HELL

~ Having taxes done with for the year is HEAVEN

~ Getting to attend sacrament meeting in your own ward and

sit by your OWN family, might be one of the BEST things

that I have taken for granted!!!

~ Eating 5 meals worth of spinach artichoke dip kinda makes

you feel SLuGGISH by the end of the week...I said KINDA!

And Yes, I would do it again! =)

We had such a great time we didn't even make it home until after 3:00am and the kids stayed up the whole time!!! Thanks guys YOU ROCK!!!

Christmas Day

Had a great quiet day at home on Christmas. The girls love their new Wii board ~ they would play on it 24 hours a day if I would let them. I had to laugh at Syd, notice above that the first thing she built with the tinker toys was a Wheel move. Do you think we spend too much time moving pipe?

I was going to start putting the Christmas decor away, but Rob says we have to leave it at least until New Years. He usually makes me leave it until his birthday....such a partier!!!

The Forgotten Carols and My Closed Door

So I decided that because there are ten chapters in the Forgotten Carols book, and ten days until Christmas, I would start tonight, and read a chapter with my girls each night. I feel like a loser of a mom most days who doesn't take the time to enjoy my kids. It is so hard to just stop everything and focus just on them.

We snuggled in by the Christmas tree, Shelby pouting because she wanted to paint and Sydney pouting because she wanted to watch tv. I had forgotten that I actually went to the play some years back. My boss had given me tickets for Christmas. And I had forgotten how amazing it was, but I quickly remembered as I started reading.

The girls were giggling at the story. I was giggling at myself because of my wonderful impersonations for each character. Slowly the pouting left and an amazing spirit filled the room. I kept having to stop reading to keep the tears from coming. The girls were hanging on every word. When we got to the first carol I wished I had the sheet music so that I could have played it for them(we will have to settle for itunes). The words to the song struck me so hard.

"LET HIM IN".

I thought about how just today, so many times I shut the door on Him. I was grumpy with my husband, frustrated with family and friends, overwhelmed with work. He was right there, waiting, willing to help me, but I didn't open the door. I do that everyday. I talked a few weeks ago in relief society about how I am the opposite of Mary. God gave her a huge calling and she gracefully said Ok. Me? I complain about every little thing I am asked to do.

Then my mind went to those that I talked to today. I thought about the spirit that they had with them and wished I had been brave enough to tell them to Let Him In.

I have to say thanks to Suz for the book. You probably didn't know how great of a gift you were giving our family. I am so grateful we let Him in tonight, I hope that we can keep Him here with us for a while.

Lucky girls got to be baptized on Halloween!

We are so proud of them for the choice that they made to get baptized!

We are also proud they came to a solution for the 6 month long fight

of who was going to receive the Holy Ghost first!!!

I am grateful to Rob for being such a GREAT dad and a worthy priesthood holder!

It was an amazing day. We are so blessed with family and friends who joined us, called, or sent notes just to let us know they were supporting us. We love you all!!

Last night I had the opportunity to meet with the new Valley View Branch Primary Presidency.

I was nervous all day because 1. I don't really speak spanish(you would think after 3 years of spanish class I would have retained something!) and 2. Sharing a church with the Valley View, I haven't always had great experiences.(lock breaking, crashing activities, messy, loud....)

I prayed all day that I would somehow be able to teach the ladies what they needed, despite my bad attitude. The second that I walked through the door I felt calm. And what an amazing night I had. There was one sister who spoke english, so she translated everything. The spirit there was so strong and I immediately felt love for each of the sisters there. They want so badly to give the kids in their primary all the tools that they need so that they can build their families up and be strong members of the church. I just couldn't give them enough information! Talking with them last night I realized that most of their kids are the only active ones in their families. They have such a big job ahead of them, but I am confident they are going to do a great job!!!!!

I have felt so picked on since I was moved to my Stake calling. I loved being able to work with all the kids every week. Last night I finally felt like I was there for a reason, and knew that even though I am not with the kids I am still helping them. I am so grateful for all that my Heavenly Father gives me. I feel so blessed and I know that he is right beside me every step of the way helping me make the right choices in my life! And I am so thankful for that!!!!!

Last week we traveled to Provo to visit Kristin and her fam while they blessed her new little guy. We spent the next day at the Dinosaur museum with Dave and Sarah and Preston, and Kris and Maya and Bridger.

We had a great day, the dinos are huge(and gross) hate dinos almost as much as aliens. Still not convinced they were real.

The girlies had a fabulous time, but their favorite thing was hangin' out with Dave. They just want to bring him home!!!!

Whitney family works to restore 80-year-old barnWHITNEY — It’s big, it’s old, it’s drafty and it’s dirty.And, to its owners, it’s a part of Cache Valley’s history that’s well worth preserving.The barn on Robert and Rob Hull’s dairy farm has withstood at least 80 summers and winters, and the Hulls are hoping to make it last even longer. The father-and-son dairy owners have begun efforts to restore and repair the barn, with some help from government historical preservation agencies.

“I’ve worked and been a part of this barn for 50 years and it’s just a neat structure I’d like to see kept up,” said Robert Hull, Rob’s father.The barn is 40 feet wide, 70 feet long and is about 41 feet high at its peak. Any written records of its history are missing, but estimates are that it was built sometime in the 1920s, when A.C. Hull — Robert’s grandfather and Rob’s great-grandfather — was running the farm, Rob Hull said.Years of strong winds from the southwest have twisted and bent the barn’s arched roof, said Keith Jones, an engineer hired to evaluate and plan the barn’s restoration. Gaps in the tin roof have let water enter and weaken the wood in some areas and much of the siding has deteriorated or been stripped away over the years, Jones said.Jones, who works for AHJ Engineers in Boise, Idaho, was at the Hull Dairy Thursday to finalize plans for the barn’s restoration. Also present was Lisa Duskin-Goede, a heritage specialist who works with the Bear River Association of Governments. Duskin-Goede said BRAG has been working for several years to preserve historic barns in the Bear River Heritage Area — which includes much of Northern Utah and Southeast Idaho.Duskin-Goede helped secure a $1,000 grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which the Hulls were required to match. The Idaho Heritage Trust also granted $8,000 to aid in the barn’s preservation. So far, the money has gone to cover the fees of Jones and architect Fred Walters, Duskin-Goede said. Soon, the Hulls will hire a contractor to do the work, Jones said.The trusses of the barn’s roof will be reinforced and stiffened using steel plates and cables in some places, Jones said. Additional 2-inch-by-8-inch boards will also be placed in some spots to strengthen it. New siding will be placed on the south side to block wind and rain, and the tin roof will be replaced, he said.Rob Hull said he would like to keep the barn in good condition and allow interested people to check out a piece of the valley’s history.“It’s definitely a neat barn and it represents the heritage of the area,” he said. “Getting to be a lot less of them now.”Also on hand Thursday was Richard Eversull, who cares for a historic barn owned by Nibley City. Eversull said he hopes to make the Nibley barn into a place the community can gather. Barns are a crucial part of the area’s past and should be preserved, he said.“If we allow it, it wouldn’t be long until these places are all pushed down,” he said

HOORAY !!! Shelby reached her goal of earning a 100 Accelerated Reading points! She got this great monkey hat and will be 'walking the hall' on friday. Way to go Shelby we are sooooo proud!!

Syd is right on her heels ~ Congrats to her too! She is an 80 pointer, keep goin' Syd!

It has been a long weekend and I am afraid that after sitting in one place for so many days my bum is going to match the seat of my office chair! I am happy to have plans to do, but I am more happy that I am almost done!!! One left to go before I go after more.

The week of the Croup!

It has been a long week of coughing and grumpiness at our house. (what else is new) I thought when kids were 7 that they were old enough not to get the croup. Apparently not. Hoping tomorrow Shelb can return to school! We both need a break from each other.

On a side note, I am so proud of Sydney for being by herself all week at school! She has had a pretty rough time sitting by kids that 'gross her out' in the lunchroom, and playing with a different crowd at recess, but she made it!

Hello all! Good news, I can see good enough to work on my blog. Actually I can see quite well. The eye surgery was a success~suprise blood vessel mass aside, all went well. Here is an ugly picture of me in my fashion goggles that I am required to wear, man am I hot or what!

Rob has been a good nurse and has been great at taking care of me.

(Aside from taking the ugly pics of me!)

I will be glad when I can wear make-up and shower again. :)

I am sure you all will be as well!

Hello...Who's there?

So tonight the doorbell rang. I went to answer the door, I looked out the window and saw no one. A few minutes later it rang again. Same thing. This time I waited by the door, sure enough the doorbell rang. I threw open the door to see...Oreo (Syd's cat) ringing the doorbell. Apparently he was tired of being outside and his howling at the doors and windows wasn't working so he had to try something else. Silly cat!

I couldn't find a good picture of Oreo, however when I was looking I noticed something about the above picture that I never noticed before. The girls have NO shoes on, glad they covered their ears and all but what about their feet?????

I am a fan of Facebook. Ok, I am an addict. Anyway, I was tagged to make a list of 25 random things about me. Because I can't convince all of you to join FB, I thought I would list my post here.

1. Beacause nearly all of my friends have tagged me I am breaking the rules and not passing the tag on to anyone else. Which brings me to my first random thing~Don't tell me what to do. I hate rules and bossy people. I want to be in charge of me! (i know i have a bad attitude).
2. I love my friends. I just love love love them!!! We have the best times together and they totally "get me"
3. I love my hubby. He is and always has been my best friend. There are no secrets he knows everything about me and for some reason he digs me. I love him!!!
4. I like to go fast. (I think I inherited this from my mom)It is amazing that I don't have many speeding tickets. I try to confine my speed to the 4 wheeler, but if I have to I will just talk really fast to get my speed quota in for the day.
5. I hate scary movies. I really hate scary movies with aliens.
6. I love loud music. If I could (hint hint Rob) I would put some subs and some new speakers in my car and I would crank the tunes just as loud as they could go, and then I would drive around really fast.
7. I also love to sing and dance...when no one else is around.
8. I love to play the piano. One reason I didn't keep pursuing this is because my teacher told me that i played too loud and too fast!
9. I love kids. They make me happy. (even when they are naughty) I am usually around the corner laughing at what ever they did while they are on the time out chair.
10. I love to be happy and I think everyone else should always be happy. I think Rob thinks this is obnoxious.
11. I hate to exercise. I just want to be skinny and in shape and do absolutely no exercising.
12. My diet consists of popcorn, candy, and diet coke. I like other food, but I am trying to prove that you can get by on the above mentioned items.
13.I love my yard. I know every name of every plant, and not just their common name their scientific name. I am going to get brave and learn to drive the skidsteer so I can do some projects this summer as Rob is no longer allowed in my yard with any kind of machinery.
14. I love to ski. Snow, water, cross-country. I just need more time!
15. I love my job. Most of the time I think that I might have a nervous breakdown from all the stress, but I think that I function best under pressure.
16. I hate waiting. Waiting to open gifts, waiting in line, waiting for church to get over....
17. I love clean floors. There is nothing more rewarding to me than looking at perfectly vacuumed or shiny mopped floors.
18. I love my red hair. Growing up I thought that I would die from all the teasing about my hair. Now...bring it on. At least I am different than most.
19. I don't sleep. I am a total insomniac. I sometimes wonder how long I would last if I quit drugging myself so that I do get some sleep. At least maybe I could get some laundry done.
20. I know I am 32, but I still feel like I am a teenager.
21. I love my grandmas! They are so good to me!!! I love to learn from them. I love to go thru family history and pictures.
22. I love local history. Some of my most valuable possessions are my grandparents biographies and the ward history books. I follow Rob around reading stories from the books.
23. I love to help people. Don't get me wrong, I don't like to enable people, or let people take advantage of me, but I love to do nice things for people.
24. I love to draw and paint. Most of the time while I am supposed to be working I find myself drawing.
25. I love to smile. Even when everything is wrong in the world just smilin' can make you feel better.
26. I love my family, all of you, mom, dad, Ty(Kass too), cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, in-laws. You are all so good to me. I feel spoiled most of the time just because I feel like I have the best fam ever. Don't get me wrong, we all have our flaws, but I still love ya anyway.

My friends pointed out that I forgot to add that I love to read obituaries. It's true.

Provo

We went to Provo a few weeks ago to visit the cousins. Thanks Chris & Paige, I am still craving more orange biscuits. We made our usual stops to Krispy Kreme and to ride the elevator at Cabelas, cheap entertainment!
Then we headed back to SLC to eat at Z Tejas and do a little shoppin' at Build a Bear.

We tried to go sledding a week or so ago. Rob and I tried to snowboard with Wy, I am not sure if the problem was that we were using Riley's snowboard or that we are old. Anyway, we all survived and had a fun day.

Just to update everyone, we are helping care for my sister's boys while she and her husband get their lives in order. Wyatt is 8 and Riley is 4. Wow, boys have so much more energy than girls!

Cousin Riley ready for a Halloween Party, he wasn't excited about the cat costume until we suggested that he was a mean cat with cuts and blood on his face.

Shelby and Sydney with cousin Jocelyn on Halloween better late than never! Syd has got good use out of her size 2T costume for the fifth year. I just wish she would have committed before we bought a new costume every year.

Contrary to Rob's comment that I am out playing around, I can't find any time to keep our blog updated! Somehow I got talked into selling corn, which at the time seemed like a good trade to have Rob plant an acre or two of it in the backyard. However it has turned into an overwhelming time consuming task!

Syd and Shelb are 6 now and loving first grade. I miss being able to spend as much time with them. They are so fun and at such a cute age!

Rob is too busy(we compete to see who can be the busiest and most stressed out). He is still working on the farm and in his free time(ha ha) he draws house plans.

I am still doing material estimates for Stock Building Supply. My job has turned into full time as I now have both the Logan and Brigham stores. That keeps me pretty busy along with my corn job, kids, and helping on the farm a little.
